When Maryland Transit Administration says it’s ‘unlikely’ to reopen MARC bus service

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MTA) is “unlikely” to reopen its bus service on weekends, an agency spokesperson said Friday.

Maryland Transit’s bus service is operating on Saturdays and Sundays only.

MTA spokesman Eric Cogan told The Hill that the agency has asked for a week-long extension, but that request has not been granted.MTA spokesperson Eric Cechan said that the service is not affected by a shutdown or the federal shutdown, which has left transit agencies across the country scrambling to provide service to millions of commuters and visitors.META bus service was suspended on Friday due to the government shutdown, as Metro buses operate on Saturdays.

Vernon County’s Metro bus service has also been suspended as the agency struggles to service hundreds of thousands of people who rely on the service during the shutdown.
