The ride-hailing company Uber is getting ready to launch a self-driving car, CEO Travis Kalanick said during a media conference on Tuesday.
“We’ve got a bunch of prototypes of that right now, but it’s still in the very early stages,” Kalanicks statement read.
“We’ve been working on that and working on the next version for a long time.”
The announcement comes on the heels of a recent report that Uber has reached a deal with Chinese carmaker Dalian Wanda Group to develop and manufacture its self-drive electric vehicle.
The two companies are expected to unveil the first self-driven electric car at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on December 3.
